Happy Birthday Card ft Altenew

Hi There!

I hope you are well! Are you one of the lucky ducks that is at Creativation this weekend? I wish I was there.  It is such an amazing trade show! I have been watching all the Instagram posts and Facebook lives etc. to keep up with it all.

Today I am sharing a fun Birthday card I made using Altenew stamps and dies mixed with some Catherine Pooler Inks and a watercoloured background. I also have a video to show you how I created it.

To create the card, I started out by making the watercoloured background panel.  I used Daniel Smith watercolours in Indigo, Cobalt Blue and Cerulean Blue.  I added the colours quite randomly, but focused the colour toward the bottom left side of my card (and tried to have the colour be lighter toward the top right hand side). To add a little something extra, I added some Perfect Pearls in Interference Blue using a small spray bottle. I love the way it looked at the end, but the shine is quite hard to capture in photos.

Next I worked on the stamping.  To choose the ink colours I wanted to use I did some test stamping.  The colour combos I tried out are pictured above.  The colour combo that I decided was best for my card has a tick on it. This was the combo that I felt worked best with my watercoloured background. I used the Altenew Vintage Roses set for the flowers and leave and used the Altenew Label Love set for the sentiment.

I stamped more flowers and leaves than I knew I would need so that I could play around with different arrangements.  Each time I tried a different arrangement, I took a picture on my phone and then picked one I was happy with.  Once I was happy with the placement, I then added 3M Mounting tape to the backs of all my diecut pieces and copied the picture on my phone to attach all the pieces to my card just the way I wanted them to be.

To finish the card I diecut the watercolour panel as well as a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock using the largest dies of both the Lawn Fawn Large and Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables. I then adhered each panel to a standard size top folding cardbase.  I then added some Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets in 4mm and 6mm sizes.
