If you can dream

Hi there,

Today I have an encouragement card to share with you.  This card uses some old stamp and die sets.  I just love re visiting stamps and dies that are in my stash and bringing them to life again, often using new techniques and/or colours.

Here is my card:

To create this card I started out by die-cutting a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock using the largest of the Lawn Fawn cross stitched rectangle dies.  Next I added paint splatters using a round paintbrush, water and my Gansai Tambi watercolours in the two gold tones.  I tried to concentrate the paint to be toward the top left hand corner of the card panel.

Next I worked on the dream catcher.  I used the WPLUS9 Dream catcher die to cut the ring out of some gold glitter cardstock and twice more out of Neenah Solar White cardstock. I used the same set of dies to cut 2 of the "string" pieces out of some vellum.  I then used some Catherine Pooler ink in Juniper Mist and a blending tool to apply some colour to both pieces.  I concentrated the colour in the middle of both pieces and blended the colour toward the outer edge to give an ombre look.

To complete the feathers I used the stamps and dies from the WPLUS9 Dream Believer set.  I stamped all the feathers in Catherine Pooler Inks.  The colours I used were Juniper Mist, Daydream and Aquatini. Once I had stamped the base layer of each feather I used my embossing tool to remove any static from the paper and then used Versamark ink to stamp the coordinating top layers of each feather.  To this I added WOW! Fools Gold Embossing Glitter and heat set it using my heat tool.

I cut out the little string and bead pieces from the Dream catcher die set and then stamped the beads from the Dream Believer stamp set using the Juniper Mist ink once again. I also added string details by just drawing a line using a fine liner.

My background panel was then dry, So I stamped the sentiment, also from the WPLUS9 Dream Believer stamp set, using Versamark ink and applied embossing powder in gold. Then I glued the panel to a top folding cardbase (finished size 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches).

To assemble the dream catcher I used Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the end pieces of the "string" pieces and added them to the gold glitter ring.  I arranged the pieces so that they overlapped in a nice pattern.  I then glued on the small "beaded" pieces and glued on the feathers in an arrangement I was happy with.  Lastly, I glued the whole piece onto my cardbase. To add a little more detail, I used some sequins and seed beads from my stash and placed these onto the dream catcher and the beads near the feathers.
