Valentine's Day Cards ft. Catherine Pooler Designs

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post for the year, and my first post on my blog.  Today I want to share with you two cards that I made for Valentine's Day (or indeed any other love related occasion) featuring Catherine Pooler Designs stamps, dies and ink.

For my first card I used the CP Plaid Background stamp for the background panel of the card.  I inked it up using the CP Rockin' Red ink pad.  I stamped this onto a panel of 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. I then adhered this panel to a standard top folding card base (11 x 4 1/4 inch piece of card stock scored at 5 1/2 inches)

Next I cut out the CP Large Doily die as well as the CP Small doily die from some more Neenah cardstock using my Sizzix Big Shot Machine.  I used two 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch panels and cut each doily from a separate piece of cardstock so that I could use each of the negative die cut pieces in the second card.

I left the Large Doily as is, but for the Small Doily I covered it in Versamark ink and then added WOW! Embossing Powder in Red Glitz Embossing Glitter. I shook off the excess powder and then heat set the Doily with my heat tool.  Once I had embossed the Doily, I decided to cut out a heart from the middle.  To do this, I took the larger heart from the CP Tags etc. dies and adhered it to the centre of the doily with low tack tape before running it through my Big Shot machine.

For the sentiment I used the CP Hello World stamp and die set.  I stamped the word "Bonjour" in CP Rockin' Red ink and used the coordinating die to cut it out. At the same time I also used the small tag piece from CP Tags etc. dies to cut out a tag from Neenah Solar White cardstock. I then stamped the sentiment "chere amie" onto it using CP Rockin' Red ink once more.

To complete the card I adhered the white Large Doily die cut to the plaid panel toward the middle top of the card using Tombow Mono Multi glue. I also adhered the small white sentiment tag to the bottom centre of the card.  Next I used 3M mounting tape to adhere the embossed Small Doily die and the "Bonjour" sentiment to the card.  I placed the small doily in the centre of the large one and the "bonjour" sentiment just above the little tag.

For the second card I used the negative die cuts from the first to create a flower like shape for my card.  I took the piece that I cut the Small Doily from and inked it up using the CP Rockin' Red ink pad and applied it direct to paper.

Next I added foam tape to the back of each of the two panels and adhered the white piece on top of the red piece.  I then temporarily adhered this piece to the standard top folding card base using low tack tape (I did this in case I made a mistake with the stamping so that I wouldn't waste my die cut piece).  I then stamped three different stamps from the CP Medallion Mix Up stamp set using CP Rockin' Red ink.  I also the stamped the "with love" sentiment in the same colour onto the top piece as shown.

To finish the card I adhered the die cut piece to the card base using Tombow Mono Multi glue and added a finishing touch by using my Wink of Stella Brush Pen in clear to the centre flower and the small love heart.
