I have been having fun lately playing with different colouring mediums. Today I played with my new Daniel Smith Watercolours and did some no-line watercolouring.
First I stamped the largest flower from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Antique Linen onto some Tim Holtz Watercolor cardstock. I then made a mask for the same flower using a full adhesive post-it note and put this right over my stamped flower. I then added leave and spray flowers in an arrangement that I liked using the same Antique Linen ink pad.
Once my stamping was complete, I chose some watercolours to use for the images. For the flowers I used Daniel Smith Quinacridone Pink, Quinacridone coral and Cadmium Red medium hue. I also added a small amount of Graphite grey for some darker areas. For the leaves I used Sap Green and
For the background I used the Indigo colour and make stripes using a 1/2" flat brush on another piece of Watercolour cardstock.
Once the floral piece was complete, I fussy cut it out using my Cutter Bee scissors, leaving a small white border around the images.
With my floral piece temporarily in place on my background piece I stamped the sentiment from the Altenew Painted Greetings stamp set using Catherine Pooler Midnight Ink pad.
Lastly, I adhered my floral watercoloured piece to the striped background using 3M Mounting tape to give the finished card some dimension. Then I added the whole panel to a top folding standard cardbase (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").
I hope that you like my card, I am so so happy with how it turned out. I think I now need to focus on adding more detailed shading to make the flowers look more realistic.
