I am posting a little late as I have had a super busy week. This week's card and video features the eclipse technique. Basically what that is is die cutting into a finished background panel and then popping up what you die cut out and replacing in on the background panel.
So to begin I stamped out my background panel. I used the eat, sleep. stamp, repeat stamps from the Altenew Crafty Friends stamp set. I stamped the images repeatedly using the Morning Frost, Evening Gray, Moon Rock and Lava Rock inks from the Warm Gray Ink Cube set from Altenew. For the stamping I chose not to use my MISTI stamping tool as I wanted the background to look imperfect. If you want your images lined up perfectly then I suggest you use a stamping tool (it will take you longer to complete though).
Once I completed stamping out the background I took some of the dies (to create the word "craft") from the Altenew Caps Bold Alphabet die set and lined them up on my background piece making sure the letters fit across lengthwise using a T ruler. Once lined up I used two pieces of washi tape and taped all of the letters together so I could ensure that I cut perfectly from the background. I then decided that I wanted the word craft to run diagonally across my finished card, so I adhered the word to the background using the washi tape and ran it through my Big Shot machine. When I removed the pieces I made sure to keep not only the letters but the inside of the R and the A.
I also cut the word craft out of white cardstock as well as a rainbow of coloured cardstock.. The colours I used are listed below in the supplies list. I then glued the rainbow of cardstock together for each letter starting with purple and finishing with red. I then adhered the background letter pieces on top of that.
Next I adhered the background panel to a side folding standard sized cardbase and then adhered the white letters plus the background pieces (the inside of the R and the A) to the cardbase and then adhered a piece of vellum over this using some Multi Matter Medium in the corners and over the letters.
I then adhered the finished dimensional letters to the cardbase using Tombow Mono Multi Glue.
To finish off then card I created a few extra sentiments using the Crafty Life stamp set once more. First I coloured some Neenah Solar White cardstock using the Lava Rock ink cube from Altenew and then stamped the images using Versmark Ink. I embossed the images with WOW! embossing powder in Opaque Bright White. I cut out the sentiments using my Fiskars trimmer and adhered them to the final card using Tombow Mono Multi glue.
