Altenew All About Layering 2 class

Hi there everyone!

I hope you are all well and enjoying the sunny weather if you live in the Northern Hemisphere.  Here is Australia it is getting pretty cold and gloomy. Winter has definitely arrived now.

I had hoped to get more of these posts up earlier, however I have been having computer issues lately.  My husband ended up getting me a new one, so fingers crossed I am back on track.

I recently took the Altenew Academy course called "All About Layering 2 ". This is a follow up class to the first layering class. I enjoyed this class as much as I did the first.  It really does help seeing each stamp set used on video, to really understand how to use the layering stamp sets.

To showcase what I learned in All About Layering 2 I decided to focus on the Majestic Bloom Stamp Set. I also used the matching  Majestic Bloom Die Set. I was inspired by Aga's card for this stamp set.  I love how she didn't use every layer for the leaf images.  I feel like it added lots of depth to the final card.

(I participate in Altenew Affiliate Program. This means that I receive a commission when products are purchased through the links here on my blog. There is NO additional cost to you.)

I found the stamp set easy to line up if I stamped the outline image first, followed by the other layer as is shown in class and on the layering guide.

I stamped the floral image 3 times in total and used my MISTI stamping tool to help me get prefect placement of the layers.  I stamped the first 2 flowers onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. The 3rd floral image I stamped onto a separate piece of 80lb cardstock so that I could die cut it using the coordinating dies and add some dimension to the final card.  For the flowers I used the Cool Summer Night Mini Cube Set as well as some Deep Iris Crisp Dye Ink for the centres of the flowers.

To add the leaves I first masked the flowers using some Inkadinkadoo stamping mask paper incase I needed to stamp over the flowers.  I only stamped the 2 detail layers of the leaves, ie. not the solid image. I think this adds some interest to the final card.  I love the way it looked on Aga's card and made me realise you don't always have to stamp every layer to create a beautiful card.  For the leaves I used the Green Fields Mini Cube Set.

Once the basis of my card was complete I added the panel to a standard top folding cardbase made of 110lb Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I then added the flower diecut using 3M Mounting tape in a position I thought looked good on the card.

For the sentiment I used the Thank and You dies from the coordinating die set.  I cut it from some Neenah 110lb cardstock that I coloured using Persian Blue Crisp Dye Ink with the direct to paper technique.  I added the sentiment to the card using some Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue.

To add some final details to this card I added some Zig Wink of Stella Clear brush pen to the die cut flower and some Glossy Accents to the centre on the flower.

I hope that you enjoyed my card for today. Please check out the Altenew Academy classes.  They are wonderful!

Hope you have a great day,

Jodie xx
